The autumn reds and greens on the nearby maple trees appeared quite vivid-almost too rich. When I filmed outside of my home, I was struck by how crisp the video looked from such a small camcorder, at least when I filmed in bright mid-afternoon light. To slide off that cover, I have to press down firmly with both thumbs in just the right place (near the case bottom) to dislodge it. Finally, when you need to swap batteries, you may struggle to pop off the battery compartment cover, depending on your hand strength. I spent extra time fiddling with it to restore previous settings after accidentally knocking them off. The zoom’s touchiness compounds this problem. I kept accidentally pressing the zoom or wide angle key when trying to take a photo or start a video. I first ran into this problem with the back panel’s tightly clustered set of four buttons for zoom, wide angle, photo shutter, and video record. Beyond the comfy pistol-grip, the Camileo P100 can be fussy to work with, especially for people with big fingers. I got almost no warning before the battery died.įinally, the feel-good factor. The battery icon randomly disappeared and reappeared. In fact, when I recorded video, the only icons I saw were for remaining battery life and a time counter showing how long I’ve been recording the current video. I hoped to see more status icons, especially on this large screen, which can easily accommodate more of them.

It gave no message indicating that a change had taken effect, nor does it show the current setting on the panel. For example, when I switched video resolution from 1080 to 720 or vice-versa, I had to trust the camcorder actually made the change I wanted. The camera screen sometimes offered too little feedback. Regarding communication, the Camileo P100 is the silent type. A year or two down the line, when they’re revisiting old pictures and video clips, they’ll wish they had the correct date and time to help them figure out where they shot their images. Many users don’t pay much attention to the date/time stamp until it’s too late. Each time I programmed it, it soon fell back to the factory default (, 00:00am). But then, we are talking about a "Pocket Camcorder", whose basic purpose is to carry everywhere and shoot at the spur of the moment, under 1/10th of the price.Neither camcorder could retain the correct date and time stamp.

AND rest assured, the vids are VERY SIMILAR to that of a full HD Camcorder (I have one) except for the manual controls that you get from them. If the 10 pointers I mentioned above are also your considering factors, go for the Camileo S10.

To note here, the supplied ArcSoft Suite is "just OK", but I had no problem making my DVD thru the Cyberlink PowerDirector Express, which is a good movie software and came with my JVC HD7.įriends, don't have any 2nd thoughts. Just now I edited the clips & burnt a (regular) DVD - and wow! the movie was stunning. ****The S10 is a Flat device, half the thickness of my cigarette pack (B&H 20's) and only half inch taller than it. ***Note: standard SD card, NOT Micro SD thus, cheaper. **Bought another Li-on battery for Stand-by (these are the same as used in most of the cameras & camcorders thus, readily available - not proprietary costed only USD 8/-). *Both clips & shots analyzed by playing on a 42" FHD LCD TV. ****Deal breaker: Slips easily into my shirt pocket, with ZERO bulge. HDMI port (a must, so that we enjoy Full HD footage on an FHD TV).ġ0. Similar priced under USD 160/- (the CG10 is a bit costlier).ĩ.

*2nd best Still shots (best was Aiptek z700).ĥ. I had tested the Sony Webbie, Kodak Zx1, Aiptek z700 & Xacti CG10 yesterday (Flip Ultra HD and Kodak Zi8 are not available here, thus my opinion is devoid of these 2) and selected the Toshiba S10 due to:Ĥ. Let me assert here that this is a preety good camcorder. Bought my S10 yesterday and had a feild day today shoting around.
